Find out more about the community projects involving Jamie and Biggle-Dink

For all of the latest news and updates about Biggle-Dink in the community, be sure to follow Jamie on Instagram and Facebook.

Bringing Biggle-Dink to local schools

One of Jamie's favourite things to do in the community is visit local schools to share the world of Biggle-Dink. Combining stories with hands-on activities such as colouring in or 'Design-a-Friend' always goes down well with the children he sees. If you work at or represent a school in north Norfolk, Broadland, or Norwich, and would like to arrange a visit from Jamie then please get in touch. There is no charge to schools for this.

Some of these visits have been in partnership with Friend in Deed who promote fantastic intergenerational friendships.

Proud to be a Cromer Junior School Aspiration Partner

In 2024, Jamie was invited to visit the Year 4 children at Cromer Junior School for a visit as one of their Aspiration Partners. The programme is designed to introduce pupils to different industries and professionals which gives them an insight into different careers.

Jamie is very proud to be an active member of this group and plans annual visits which gives each group of children the chance to enter a Creativity Competition. The winner of this competition has their entry turned into a real book. His first visit featured in a North Norfolk News article here.

Supporting Nelson's Journey

We couldn't possibly mention working in the community without talking about Nelson's Journey. The Big Feelings project has been one of Jamie's proudest moments of the Biggle-Dink journey so far. In 2024, sales of the book raised over £2,300 to support the amazing work that Norfolk's child bereavement charity does.

You can find out more about the project here.

Kids' Corner - Radio Show

For 12 months, up until March 2025, Jamie hosted a radio show on Poppyland Radio! Each show featured a different guest or topic which were targeted to interest and inform families with children - not just in Norfolk but all over the country! Some of the highlights included interviews with the RNLI Lifeguards, a first exclusive with local band The Whakkz, and meeting local social media influencers.

Poppyland Radio is an online station so you can listen anywhere, anytime. You can listen back to all of the Kids' Corner shows on Mixcloud here.

Supporting North Norfolk Foodbank

In Jan-Feb 2025 Jamie organized a special raffle in aid of the North Norfolk Foodbank. The competition had a twist though - you couldn't buy a ticket with money. Raffle tickets were handed out in exchange for goods donated to the foodbank from their wishlist at the time.

A total of 18 prizes for the raffle were generously donated by local businesses and individuals, which is a fantastic testament to the supportive community in Cromer.

With so many people entering the competition, over 240kg of much needed donations were given to the foodbank to help support their vital work for the benefit of local people.

Book Buddies

Book Buddies events are organised and hosted by Jamie himself at venues in and around the Cromer area. Some of the potential venues include: Benjamin Court (Housing with care scheme), Cromer Library, and Cromer Pier! Other venues will be announced for future events.

Much like his school visits, the sessions include sharing stories from the Biggle-Dink series, followed by drawing and colouring activities. For details about any future Book Buddies events, follow Jamie on Facebook and Instagram.

The Beach Clean Club

You may have seen posts on Jamie's socials in the past about his litter-picking outings with his two boys, Elliott and Zachary. Well, did you also know that Biggle-Dink dislikes litter? So much so, that there is even a book about it coming out later in 2025?

The Beach Clean Club will do exactly what the name suggests - organising group events on the beach to help clean up litter. Full details will be announced in the Spring/Summer.

It's not just about the books!

Jamie finds it hard to say no, especially when it comes to the local schools in Cromer! He's even been known to dress up in the festive season to help out at Suffield Park Nursery - Ho Ho Ho!
